Gettysburg issues winter weather advisory

The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Gettysburg Borough for Tuesday, December 2.

Snow, sleet, and mixed wintry precipitation are expected to begin Tuesday morning and continue through the afternoon and evening. Total accumulation could reach about 2 inches on roads and other exposed surfaces.

If snowfall and ice reach 2 inches or more, the Borough will declare a Snow Emergency. When that happens, vehicles must be moved immediately from designated Snow Emergency Routes. Free parking will be available at the Racehorse Alley Parking Garage for the duration of the emergency.

Property owners are required to clear sidewalks within 24 hours after precipitation ends. Placing snow in the street is prohibited, and cleared snow should be kept away from fire hydrants.

The “A Gettysburg Christmas Festival,” scheduled for December 5–7, remains an all-weather event and will proceed as planned. Visitors are encouraged to dress appropriately and anticipate variable travel and walking conditions.

Residents should stay updated by monitoring local alerts, checking NWS State College updates, and watching for additional Borough notifications. Further guidance will be provided if a Snow Emergency is declared.
