Visitors to Sachs Bridge are noticing a festive addition this holiday season. The local nonprofit Gettysburg Nature Alliance has donated and installed holiday wreaths on the historic bridge, bringing seasonal charm to one of Gettysburg’s most beloved landmarks. Working in coordination with the Adams County Commissioners’ Office, the wreaths were installed just in time for the holidays.
The Gettysburg Nature Alliance owns and maintains the property along Marsh Creek leading up to Sachs Bridge. As part of its mission, the organization cares for this area through biannual stream cleanups and hosts educational programs that use the site for hands-on learning and continuing education.
“Sachs Bridge is an iconic landmark in Gettysburg, and because our property borders the bridge, it feels natural for us to play a role in its care and preservation,” said Stephanie Lightner, Executive Director of the Gettysburg Nature Alliance. “Adding wreaths for the holidays is something our board has hoped to do for several years, and we’re grateful to the county commissioners for working with us to make it possible.”
The Gettysburg Nature Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving the powerful connection between Gettysburg’s history and its natural environment. Through conservation, education, and community engagement, the organization works to protect the land, waterways, and stories beyond the battlefield—ensuring both heritage and habitat are preserved for future generations.
