The Gettysburg Nature Alliance invites the community to celebrate Earth Day by participating in a stream clean-up event on Saturday, April 20, from 10 am to 2 pm at the historic Sachs Bridge. The event will include an open house at the Barn at Sachs Bridge where attendees can learn more about the GNA’s mission, explore upcoming events, and enjoy snacks while participating in the clean-up of Marsh Creek.
Stephanie Lightner, Executive Director of both the Gettysburg Nature Alliance and the Gettysburg Heritage Center, emphasized the importance of the event: “This is the perfect opportunity to clean up the area around Sachs Bridge. Every day should be Earth Day, but setting this day aside and focusing on our environment is crucial.”

The GNA will provide supplies for the stream clean-up, but participants may bring their own if they like. It is recommended that those attending wear boots and bring bug repellent.
As an incentive to participate, a raffle for a complimentary 1-year GNA Membership will be conducted for those who join the clean-up efforts.
Founded in 2019, the Gettysburg Nature Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, education, and rehabilitation of Gettysburg’s natural habitats and historical landmarks, ensuring they are preserved for future generations.
The event will take place at the Barn at Sachs Bridge, located at 720 Pumping Station Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325. Take the first left after the turn for Sachs Bridge.
