Due to lack of funding, Gettysburg Alive and Gettysburg Pride will no longer be producing the Gettysburg New Year’s Eve Celebration. These two all-volunteer groups took on this free admission community event the last two years, after there was no event at all in 2020 and 2021.
The Adams County Arts Council produced the event for two decades, but 2019 was the final year that they produced it. While there was a fabulous attendance (too many to count) at both the 2022 and 2023 New Year’s Eve Celebrations, the producers were unable to raise the funds or enough corporate or community interest that could make this event sustainable.

Unfortunately, the event operated at a financial loss in 2022 and 2023 rather than a planned breaking even. If another organization or company wants to take over the event the previous producers will offer any help they can but feel that it is important to make this announcement this early in the calendar year of 2024 so that anyone that is interested in taking over the event will have ample time to plan accordingly. Anyone interested in producing the Gettysburg New Year’s Eve Celebration or any special event downtown should contact the Borough of Gettysburg office at 717-334-1160, 59 East High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
Gettysburg Alive and Gettysburg Pride sends a huge thank you to Wellspan Health, Spirit Sound & Light LLC, Destination Gettysburg, UPMC, Gettysburg Borough, The Gettysburg Hotel, Adams County Electric Cooperative, Hill Financial Solutions, Members First Credit Union, Holly Purdy-ReMax, Timbrel Wallace-Lark, Shelley Knouse-Fresh Boutique, and ten individuals who donated toward making this event happen again.
I don’t like the hat. It’s too big and the dropping of a ball is naval and a tradition, the hat rrises. ????
