Gettysburg Borough Police were dispatched to a 911 hang-up call in the 100 block of Buford Ave at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officers responded and upon investigation located a female victim.
The victim reported being assaulted in the vicinity of Pape Alley and Warner Alley on Monday evening at approximately 10:00 p.m.
The suspect is believed to have been a male.
The incident was reported as an indecent assault.
The victim was interviewed by investigating officers, and all appropriate investigative protocols were initiated, including a forensic/physical evaluation at the Gettysburg Hospital.
The investigation remains open as additional evidence is being processed.
Police ask that people be aware of their surroundings when walking after dark, and report anything that is suspicious.
