The Gettysburg Police Department has recently been made aware of a scam currently targeting residents in the surrounding area.
An unknown party is calling people claiming they represent Gettysburg Police Department and soliciting donations. The calls seem to be originating from a number based in Maryland.
This is a scam.
The Gettysburg Police Department is not, nor would the department ever, cold call people asking for donations.
These solicitations are being conducted without the Gettysburg Borough’s knowledge or permission. Please do not provide these callers with any financial information, they are not calling on the police department’s behalf.
Please notify your local police department and take necessary precautions if you have fallen victim to these criminals.
