Gettysburg Suffers Setback at Haverford

The Gettysburg College (9-4, 3-3 CC) men’s basketball team suffered a 94-65 setback at Centennial Conference opponent Haverford College (11-2, 6-0 CC) on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened…

  • First Half
    • The Fords jumped to a 9-3 run, but the Bullets responded back by rattling off six points in a row, with four coming from Duffey, to tie the game at nine-all with 13:15 showing.
    • The Bullets continued to remain close to the Fords, but the hosts produced a 12-2 run, making it 31-18 with under six minutes to go in the half.
    • Over the next three minutes, Gettysburg brought the deficit down to five after triggering a 10-2 spurt, which was capped off by a trey from junior Alex Leder (Bethesda, Md./Bullis).
    • Haverford notched nine points in the final 2:30 to take a 42-31 lead at the half.
    • The Fords first 18 points in the contest came from beyond the arc and the squad finished the half knocking down 10-of-16 (62.5 percent).
  • Second Half

    • The Bullets started the final half on the right note as senior Nick Lord (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) drained a trey 15 seconds in to bring Gettysburg back within eight.
    • Haverford then answered by reeling off a 15-5 run to increase the lead by 16.
    • The Bullets sliced the advantage down to 12, but the hot-shooting Fords never allowed Gettysburg to come any closer the rest of the way. Haverford finished the half shooting 19-of-32 (59.4 percent) from the field to remain undefeated in conference action.

By the Numbers

  • Haverford had its best three-point shooting performance of the season, knocking down 15-of-25 (60 percent). The Fords also connected on 34-of-64 (53.1 percent) from the floor.
  • Gettysburg made 25-of-62 (40.3 percent) from the field and knocked down nine three’s.
  • Antolini recorded his third 20-plus scoring output of the season.
  • For the second straight game, Close accumulated a double-double.

Where the Series Stands
Gettysburg holds a 39-10 all-time series record against Haverford. The Fords have now won the last three meetings.
