Gettysburg Vegetarian Dinner Club Serves Free Senior Focused Event

The Gettysburg Vegetarian Dinner Club welcomed community members to an evening of tasty vegetarian food and meaningful conversation during a free, four-course dinner. It was held on May 7, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., at the Gettysburg Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 1495 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg.

Preregistered guests gathered at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared seasonal menu that highlighted fresh, plant-based ingredients. The evening started with prayer. The dinner offered attendees an opportunity to try a variety of non-meat options. The meal consisted of a crisp dandelion salad, a comforting tomato soup, and a spring vegetable pasta. The meal concluded on a sweet note with Italian lemon ricotta cake. The meal introduced a flavor-packed experience that delighted the palate.

In addition to the vegetarian meal, attendees had the privilege to hear from guest speaker Lynn Deardorff of the Adams County Office for Aging. Deardorff shared valuable information about the wide range of programs and services available to seniors throughout Adams County. She highlighted resources designed to support independence, health, and overall well-being. She mentioned that people are welcome to get free picture books, fidget boards, weighted blankets, and robotic pets such as dogs and birds. These items are for individuals in the county who are over 60 years old and would benefit from them. Deardorff explained how people have the right to continue to live in their home they way they want to live. “We (Office of Aging) don’t have the right to change how people live.” She encouraged attendees to visit the Office for Aging website and Facebook page to learn more about possible helpful resources such as senior centers and adult day programs available throughout Adams County.

The event reflected the Dinner Club’s ongoing mission to bring people together through nutritious meals while also fostering community awareness and education. Organizers expressed appreciation for the strong turnout and encouraged residents to attend future gatherings.
