Gettysburg will celebrate Independence Day and the nation’s 250th birthday with a full day of music, family activities and fireworks during “A Gettysburg Fourth” on Saturday, July 4, at Gettysburg Recreation Park.
The community celebration begins at 8 a.m. with the Adams County Farmers Market, offering locally grown produce, food and other products while kicking off a day of festivities.
As the day continues, visitors can enjoy a variety of food vendors, family-friendly activities and open spaces throughout the park, creating an all-day destination for residents and visitors celebrating the holiday.
Live music will be a centerpiece of the event. The Willys will open the entertainment schedule in the afternoon, followed by Great Train Robbery, whose performance will keep the celebration going into the evening.
The highlight of the musical lineup will be a performance by the 90-member U.S. Army Field Band. Known for concerts across the country, the ensemble is expected to deliver a patriotic program in recognition of both Independence Day and America’s semiquincentennial celebration.
The festivities will conclude with an extended fireworks display sponsored by Destination Gettysburg. Organizers say the expanded show is intended to provide a memorable finale to the community’s celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday.
Parking for the event is available with a suggested $5 donation per vehicle, allowing attendees to enjoy the day’s activities from morning through the fireworks finale.
