Gettysburg’s Lucky Paw pet store helps rescue animals

Located on 35 York St, Gettysburg, The Lucky Paw pet store offers a wide array of dog and cat supplies, food, and treats. Many of the products are locally owned and manufactured.

But the shop also supports animals in need. Shop owner Stacey Beshore said the community can donate their local rescue animals through The Lucky Paw.

And the Lucky Paw recently raised $1100 for the local Forever Love Rescue.

The store opened in December 2019, just before COVID-19, with the ongoing goal of creating a community for pet lovers and promoting donations to local rescues and shelters.

“I just wanted to do something to help the rescue animals and the shelters that really need money,” said Beshore. “I wanted to have a facility where animal lovers could get cat and dog supplies and gifts, and have local art and products, and also so the shelters can bring the dogs here on the weekends so people can meet the dogs that are up for adoption.”

When it comes to the products in their store, many of their items are exclusive to their shop. The Lucky Paw makes its own nose and paw balm as well as its own treats, wooden signs, bowls, and more. “The more we go, the more we want to have products unique to our store,” Beshore says.

The Lucky Paw also hosts monthly nail trims for dogs, as well as an upcoming dog painting event on April 19th to look out for. There is a $20 ticket fee for the activity; however, $5 goes towards a local rescue, and the fee covers all of the supplies to make the painting, as well as a photo of your dog and a frame.

So, whether you’re stopping in to meet animals, looking to browse for cat or dog supplies, or marking your calendars for fun activities for your pets, The Lucky Paw is the way to go!
