On Monday, Governor Josh Shapiro visited Dauphin County to promote his proposed budget investments for home repairs. The Governor’s proposed budget includes $50 million for the Whole-Home Repairs Program.
The Whole-Home Repairs Program provides grants to low- and moderate-income homeowners to help make essential repairs to their homes. The program also helps small landlords to provide affordable housing units to tenants. The program is funded through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation and Enhancement (PHARE) Fund.
Governor Shapiro visited with local homeowners who are receiving funding from the program. Rick and Pebbles Seay received funding from the Whole-Home Repairs Program to make new gutters, replace windows, repair water damage, and make their upstairs bathroom accessible.
The Governor says that the Whole-Home Repairs Program can improve the quality of life for many families by allowing them to stay in their homes longer. He hopes that more families will take advantage of the program to receive the help that they need to maintain their homes.
The Whole-Home Repairs Program has supported nearly 1,150 properties across Pennsylvania through the distribution of grants. If you are interested in applying for funding from the program, you can visit the online application portal.
