Harry Styles can really run

Harry Styles has added another accolade to an already diverse career, this time on the roads of Berlin. The 31-year-old singer completed the Berlin Marathon on Sunday in 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 13 seconds, breaking the coveted three-hour barrier in only his second attempt at the distance.

Running under the name “Sted Sarandos,” Styles showed remarkable consistency, splitting the race in halves of 1:29:08 and 1:30:06. His average pace of 6 minutes, 50 seconds per mile placed him in rare company among nonprofessional runners. The achievement was made more impressive by warm, humid race conditions, with temperatures climbing into the mid-70s.

Berlin, one of the world’s fastest marathon courses and host to multiple world records, provided the perfect stage for his breakthrough. Dressed in a black long-sleeve, Tracksmith shorts, and crimson Nike Alphafly 3s, Styles crossed the line more than 25 minutes faster than his debut performance in Tokyo this past March, where he finished in 3:24:07.

The dramatic improvement underscores the rigor of his training. Styles has reportedly committed to a demanding regimen blending timed mile repeats, strength circuits, treadmill sprints, and weight training, overseen by David Thibo, a former British special forces member and professional fighter. His best standalone mile sits at 5:13, evidence of his growing endurance base and speed.

With the Berlin result, Styles joins a select group of celebrities who have run under three hours, placing alongside names like actor Bryan Greenberg and NPR host Peter Sagal. By comparison, Ellie Goulding has clocked just above three hours, while Kevin Hart’s best is more than an hour slower.

The sub-three milestone is a marker many lifelong amateur runners chase but never reach. For Styles, it represents a rapid ascent from promising debutant to legitimate marathoner in less than a year.
