Gettysburg has received a grant for a new playground at the rec park. The funding comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Borough of Recreation and Conservation, which is funded by the National Park Service Land and Water Conservation Fund Act.

The community needs about 50 volunteers to help installing the new equipment.
The installation will occur on Thursday, October 3, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the rec park, 545 Long Lane, Gettysburg, PA 17074.
Breakfast lunch and plenty of water will be provided. Gloves and other safety materials will be available for the projects that need them.
The playground build will happen rain or shine. Please come dressed for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or a bit of paint/stain on. Also closed-toe shoes are required; sneakers or work boots that you don’t mind getting dirty are advisable.
**Please note – All youth under the legal working age for this state will be welcome to participate in youth activities but will not be able to participate in building in the construction areas.
