Nutrition Education Adviser (NEA) Position

The position recruits and teaches low-income program participants in their assigned service area research-based knowledge and skills, in groups and individually, to use their limited resources to obtain a diet and healthy lifestyles for themselves and their families following the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans by using approved state curricula. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching program-appropriate audiences research-based education on healthful food selection, food preparation, food management, food safety, and physical activity.  
  • Providing food demonstrations
  • Recruiting partner agencies and participants in assigned service areas to members of the SNAP/WIC benefits-eligible population.
  • Collects evaluation data from participants to demonstrate the program’s impact to the federal funding agencies.
  • Responsible for obtaining, planning, and delivering programs and communicating, and reporting program activities to direct supervisor.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Work 40 hours a week; daily hours may require flexing to accommodate program needs.

This paraprofessional position requires a High School Diploma or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employment is conditional on successful completion of background check(s) following University policies. That includes PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check, and a motor vehicle records check.
