HGAC’s BarnArt Show & Sale Opens June 12

Once again, it is time to celebrate great old historic barns and the artists who have captured them in painting and photography. Historic Gettysburg Adams County’s 2026 BarnArt Show & Sale will be held from June 12-14 – don’t miss this exhibit featuring artworks by 50 regional and local artists!

The three-day show will be held at the G.A.R. Hall on 53 East Middle Street in Gettysburg, and as always, is free and open to the public. The Opening Night reception will be held on Friday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Awards are announced at 7:30 p.m. Join us for the familiar toast: “For the Barns!” The BarnArt Show will continue on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and again on Sunday, June 14, from noon until 4 p.m.

The exhibit will feature more than 100 works — and every artwork in the exhibit depicts a barn or a detail of a barn. Proceeds from the BarnArt Show sales benefit HGAC’s Barn Preservation Project and Grant Program, which funds grants to Adams County barn owners to help them make needed repairs. Since 2013, HGAC has awarded more than $141,600 in grant money to 69 barn owners, with more to come in 2026.

HGAC is honored to have as our BarnArt judge this year contemporary maximalist and surrealist artist Sarah Jacobs (www.sarahjacobsart.com). Sarah was raised in Littlestown and educated in Art History at Gettysburg College. She received her MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore in 2010. Her artworks have been exhibited in both the United States and Europe. She is represented in New York City by the Fremin Gallery and in Pittsburgh by the Zynka Gallery.

As this year’s BarnArt judge, Sarah will pick the first and second place winners in the categories of fine art and photography. In addition, Opening Night attendees will be able to cast their own votes for the “People’s Choice Award,” and participating artists will vote for the “Artists’ Choice Award.”

Attendees at the show will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a ride for two on a vintage Sherman Tank! The World War II American Experience Museum in Gettysburg has generously donated the free ride for two people to HGAC for the raffle. Tickets cost $10 and all proceeds will go toward HGAC’s preservation efforts. Raffle tickets are also available at HGAC’s Architectural Salvage Warehouse, which operates from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month at the historic Daniel Lady Farm at 986 Hanover Road, Gettysburg. The raffle drawing for the winning ticket will be held on September 1.

Hope to see you at the show!
