High School Golf: Northern leads the way in Colonial Division showdown Monday

In one of the pivotal matches of the 2023 season, the Colonial Division took to the picturesque Waynesboro Country Club this past Monday. Under sunny skies and temperatures flirting with the 90s, golfers teed off on the 6,343-yard, par-72 course, each aiming to claim their stake in the day’s leaderboard.

Northern emerged as the day’s big winner, recording a team score of 326. Led by Logan White’s 76, which earned him the second spot on the individual leaderboard, the team continued their perfect streak with an overall 6-0, improving their seasonal record to an impressive 17-1.

But Waynesboro, the home team, was hot on their heels. With Tyler Fortney showcasing some of his best golf, leading the board with a spectacular 75, Waynesboro finished just one stroke behind Northern at 327.

Shippensburg, Gettysburg, Greencastle, James Buchanan, and Big Spring followed in that order. A highlight from Shippensburg came from Mason Fogelsonger and Ben Horgos, who finished T3 and 5th, respectively.

On the girls’ front, Marissa Musolino and Abby Byers from Waynesboro recorded scores of 98 and 99, respectively. Northern’s Hayden Garverick carded a 109.
