Hollabaugh Bros., Inc. runs huge apple sale to benefit Upper Adams Canner Funds

Hollabaugh Bros. in Biglerville is teaming up with Upper Adams Canner Funds for an apple sale, March 12-16.

The Hollabaugh family, whose famous bin porch always has great pricing on first quality peaches and apples, will be discounting things even farther for this 5 day event. A large brown paper bag of Crimson Crisp or Winesap apples – weighing approximately 20-23 pounds – will sell for just $10 with 100% of the proceeds from every bag sold going back to Canner Funds.

“Over the years, Canner Funds has helped to provide funding for additional student learning experiences not covered in the Annual District Budget. Without Canner Funds, these yearly educational experiences would not be possible. Your generous donation provides unique experiences to enhance the learning process for students in grades K-12..” said Upper Adams School District Superintendent Dr. Wesley Doll.

Former grant recipient Ashly Wilkinson, a fourth grade teacher at Upper Adams Intermediate School, states “Canner Funds not only provides educational learning experiences, that would not happen otherwise, but these experiences create core memories for our students that will help define their learning as a Canner. Words truly do not express the gratitude we have towards the Canner Funds.”

The Canner Funds committee was created, in 2010, to enhance the quality of the educational experience provided to the students of Upper Adams School District. Canner Funds provides a wag to support the district through teacher grants and student scholarships. “Canner Funds is near and dear to our hearts here at Hollabaugh Bros. for a whole host of reasons! We live, work, and play in the same community as the students, teachers, and administrators of the Upper Adams School District. We know that so often, school budgets fall short, and that the Canner Funds exists to help bridge that gap. If making a donation through the sale of these apples supports some extra field trips, the purchase of classroom supplies or technology, or gives a child in the Upper Adams School District an experience they wouldn’t have been able to have otherwise, our goal will be met. And of course, everyone should eat more apples! It’s a win-win,” Ellie Hollabaugh Vranich explains.

The special pricing will be in effect March 12 through 16 only. “We surely hope the public comes out – not only to get a great deal on apples, but more importantly to support this very worthwhile organization in our community,” said Vranich.
