@Home in Adams County and Adams County Arts Council collaborate onThe People Project 2024

@Home in Adams County and the Adams County Arts Council are collaborating on the next iteration of The People Project and are actively seeking folks who live and/or work in Adams County to share their stories, keeping in mind @Home’s vision: All residents of Adams County will have opportunities to live in safe housing in line with their income, find sustainable employment, and access viable transportation options.

And there are so many ways to share your stories, including storytelling, making music, and participating in the creation of the visual art pieces of this year’s project.

People Project

“The purpose of The People Project is to take a universal theme and use stories, music, and art to share insight from a variety of perspectives to foster empathy and celebrate diversity,” said Lisa Cadigan, creator of The People Project and executive director of the arts council.

What does this year’s theme, “At Home in Adams County,” mean to you?

In addition to the stories and music, artist Sarah Jacobs will create 5 murals to be unveiled at The People Project event later this year and exhibited on the façade of the Arts Education Center on S. Washington Street in Gettysburg. Jacobs will design the murals based on the stories and music collected from the Adams County community and shared at the performance event – 3 will be her own creations and 2 will be collaborative works painted by community groups, residents, and visitors throughout Adams County.

What a powerful way to share what “At Home in Adams County” means to us! To get involved in painting, music making, or for more information about how you can share your story of “At Home in Adams County” as part of The People Project 2024, contact events@adamsarts.org.
