Inaugural Act Local Fair supports local organizations that make a difference

It was cold, cold, cold yesterday afternoon, but the participants in Gettysburg’s first ever Act Local Fair warmed each other with their hearts as they gathered on Lincoln Square.

The event brought together local organizations that make a difference in the community and encourage civic engagement.

Featured groups included Gettysburg Pride, Waldo’s & Company, Pathways to Racial Justice, Manos Unidas, Moms Rising, the Human Relations Commission, Mediation Services of Adams County, Gettysburg Community Theater, a panel of local school board directors, YWCA Hanover, and Gettysburg Rising.

Speakers included Gettysburg Borough Council President Matt Moon, John Rudy, and Wendy Allen. Cathleen McGowan contributed operatic singing of patriotic songs.

“Thanks to all the volunteers who braved the cold for two hours yesterday to talk about their organizations. They work all year long for a better Gettysburg, and many of them wear multiple hats around town. Let them be an inspiration to you,” said event organizer Jenny Dumont.

Latino Fusion Food Truck and Uncle Moe’s Soul Food served delicious food and contributions from the Gettysburg Majestic Theater, A&A Village Treasures, T Loft Snacks and Gift Shop, Into the Cottage, Sunrise Soap Company, Gettysburg Community Theater, Because it’s a Lion, Massage Therapist Lisa Davenport, Art by Judy Pyle, Reid’s Winery and Cider House, and Cottage Core Curiosities supported the event through a raffle.

This event was sponsored by Hill Financial Solutions.
