Indiana band travels east to perform at Gettysburg Brass Band Festival

The Gettysburg Brass Band Festival is pleased to announce that the Crossroads Brass Band of suburban Indianapolis will travel over 500 miles to perform at the 2025 festival. Chartered in 2012,  the band is comprised of many experienced musicians from central Indiana under the leadership of artistic director, Dr. Jon Noworyta. The group performs a variety of styles, including marches, hymns, show tunes, big band arrangements, and music composed or arranged in the British brass band tradition.  The band’s program includes Sousa’s Liberty Bell March, big band jazz standards, Pennsylvania 6-5000, Chattanooga Choo-Choo, Ashokan Farewell, and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Jon Noworytais, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands, Instrumental Activities, and Outreach at the University of Indianapolis, where he administers all aspects of the instrumental area, conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Pep Band, and teaches courses in conducting and music education. A versatile conductor who is equally comfortable with orchestras and wind and brass groups, he is the Artistic Director of the Queen City Freedom Band of Cincinnati, and Assistant Conductor of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. Noworyta is a twenty year veteran public school music educator.

Crossroads Brass Band strives to be an exemplary musical organization, study and perform brass band music of the highest quality, promote educational activities, and entertain audiences throughout metropolitan Indianapolis. The Gettysburg Brass Band Festival is in its 28th year and attracts some 4000 listeners annually to main stage performances at the United Lutheran Seminary and venues around the borough.
