In a bid to preserve and enhance Gettysburg’s historic charm, Main Street Gettysburg has launched a campaign to replace and refurbish its iconic wayside markers. These markers, installed throughout the historic district since 1999, serve as vital educational tools, offering insights into the town’s rich history through narratives, maps, and photos.
After 25 years of enduring weather and wear, many of these markers are in urgent need of replacement. Main Street Gettysburg, in collaboration with the Borough of Gettysburg and the Adams County Historical Society, has initiated a comprehensive effort to restore these markers to their former glory.

The initiative invites local businesses and community members to participate through sponsorship opportunities. Businesses can sponsor either small signs for $100 or larger signs for $200. Although sponsors will not be directly listed on the markers themselves, Main Street Gettysburg plans to honor their support through various channels, including print, social media, and online recognition.
Interested parties can view available signs for sponsorship on Main Street Gettysburg’s website. The organization encourages anyone passionate about local history and preservation to consider contributing to this meaningful cause.
