It’s Christmastime And Mariah Carey Is No. 1 Again

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” jingles its way back to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, reclaiming the No. 1 spot for an incredible 15th week overall. The perennial holiday favorite surged nine spots, propelled by 38.2 million streams, 24.4 million radio airplay impressions, and 3,000 downloads in the week ending December 5, according to Luminate.

Originally released in 1994 on Carey’s Merry Christmas album, the track’s dominance has grown steadily, becoming a holiday staple in the streaming era. First entering the top 10 in 2017 and reaching the summit in 2019, it has now topped the chart in a record-extending sixth holiday season. This milestone further cements Carey’s position as the solo artist with the most Hot 100 No. 1s (19), just one behind The Beatles’ all-time record.

“When I wrote this song, I never imagined it would bring so much joy to so many people,” Carey shared in a previous statement, expressing gratitude for its enduring appeal.

The holiday cheer doesn’t stop with Carey. Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” leaps to No. 2, and Wham!’s “Last Christmas” climbs to a new peak at No. 3. With classics like Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” and Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas” rounding out the top 10, the season of nostalgia reigns supreme.
