This free talk is part of Historic Gettysburg Adams County – HGAC’s 50th Anniversary Educational Speaker Series. The program will take place at the G.A.R. Hall on 53 E. Middle Street in Gettysburg and is open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Jean Howard-Green is the current president of the Lincoln Cemetery Project Association, which is dedicated to preserving Gettysburg’s historic Black cemetery, and she also serves on the Adams County Historical Society board of trustees. In 2022, Howard-Green and members of Gettysburg UMC joined HGAC in celebrating the 200th anniversary of the G.A.R. Building, which was built in 1822 as a Methodist church and was one of the first churches in the area to welcome African Americans into its congregation.
