Joyce L. Crouse, 95, lifelong Gettysburg resident

Joyce Lorraine (Waybright) Crouse, 95, a lifelong Gettysburg resident, died Sept. 29, 2026, at SpiriTrust Concordia in Hanover. Born Sept. 15, 1931, on a farm near Barlow, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Bertha (Reifsnider) Waybright. She was a 1949 graduate of Gettysburg High School.

Crouse graduated from the Harrisburg School of Nursing in 1951 and worked as a nurse at Annie M. Warner Hospital. She married Ned Crouse in 1952, and they shared 65 years of marriage. The couple returned to Gettysburg in 1953 and raised their family. They also started Crouse Electric in 1964; she served as co-owner and bookkeeper until Ned retired in 1985. She was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Survivors include children Cathy Kunkel of Gettysburg, Tom Crouse of Georgia, Wesley Crouse of Florida and Lori Klauber of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers Wilbur and Paul Waybright.

A viewing and memorial service are scheduled for Oct. 12 at St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
