July 2025 Cultural Arts Calendar

Here is a list of some of the many cultural arts events available in Adams County this month. Please check websites for exact times and ticket prices.

July 1 – August 31 – New Art Exhibits @ Adams County Arts Education Center

In July and August Melissa Ring will be exhibiting in the Reception Hall, Courtney Billow in the Gallery, and Kirby Heltebridle in the Studio. The First Friday Opening for these exhibits, when you may meet and greet the artists, is August 1 from 5-7 pm. Admission is free.         www.adamsarts.org

July 1-6 at 2 or 7:30 pm – Musical “9 to 5” @ Totem Pole Playhouse    

Based on the hit 1980 film, Dolly Parton herself provides the music and lyrics for this outrageously funny workplace revenge comedy set in the Rolodex era. Head out to Totem Pole to celebrate their 75th season! Rated PG-13. Tickets are $55, far less than you pay on Broadway.  www.totempoleplayhouse.org

July 2 at 7:30 pm – Summer Classic Movies @ Majestic Theater  

“Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” (1989) is a hilarious Disney film in which the scientist father of a teenage girl and boy accidentally shrinks them and two of their friends to the size of insects. Tickets are $9 and this film is rated PG.  www.gettysburgmajestic.org

July 3 – 19 – Visualizing the Civil War  @ Schmucker Art Gallery, Gettysburg College. 

Curated by students Danielle Russell ’25 and Jake Neff ’27, this art show features Civil War-related visual culture from the 1860s through the 1938 75th Reunion at Gettysburg. The art is drawn primarily from Gettysburg Special Collections and College Archives. Admission is free and the Gallery is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 am -4 pm.  www.gettysburg.edu/gallery

July 8 at 2 and 7:30 pm – Piano Bar Duo Brady and Caroline @ Totem Pole Playhouse                             

An evening of song and celebration! These two Totem Pole veterans bring their globe-trotting, sing-along dueling piano show to our very own stage. Tickets are $45, and parking is free.  www.totempoleplayhouse.org

July 9 at 7:30 pm – Summer Classic Films @ Majestic Theater  “The Omega Man” (1971)  

Dr. Robert Neville has developed an experimental vaccine which makes him the only immune survivor of a biological catastrophe. A gang of homicidal mutants blames science for their condition and attempts to kill him. Tickets are $9.  www.gettysburgmajestic.org

July 16 at 7:30 pm – Summer Classic Films @ Majestic Theater  “Neverending Story” (1984)         

A troubled boy dives into a wondrous fantasy world through the pages of a mysterious book. Rated PG and tickets are $9.   www.gettysburgmajestic.org

July 18-27 at 2 and 7:30 pm – “The 39 Steps” (play) @ Totem Pole Playhouse                      

Framed for murder and on the run, Richard Hannay faces plot twists galore in this parody of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film. Four actors! Eighty characters! One riotous farce! Tickets are $60 and parking is free.  www.totempoleplayhouse.org

July 19 at Sundown – Cinema Under the Stars @ Seminary Ridge, United Lutheran Seminary “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” will grace the silver screen at dusk. Bring lawn chairs/blankets, BYOB, and enjoy some live music (Faith Noel). As well, visit the food trucks (Latino Fusion Style and Bantam) an hour before the film begins.  Admission and parking are free. www.gettysburg-filmcommission.org

July 23 at 7:30 pm – Summer Classic Movies @ Majestic Theater

“Gremlins” (1984)  A young man inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town. Rated PG and tickets are $9. www.gettysburgmajestic.org

July 27 at 6:00 pm – Buzz Jones Quintet @ United Lutheran Seminary Outdoor Pavilion  

Enjoy jazz classics from the Great American Songbook featuring an ensemble of alto saxophone, trumpet, piano, bass, and drums.  Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Church of the Abiding Presence. Admission and parking are free.  www.musicgettysburg.org

July 29 at 2 and 7:30 pm – Boston Bachert, Variety Show @ Totem Pole Playhouse                   

Get ready for an unforgettable experience as Boston’s renowned family-friendly magic comes to Totem Pole! A dazzling variety show packed with magic, jaw-dropping juggling, and nonstop fun for audiences of all ages. Tickets are $45.     www.totempoleplayhouse.org

July 30 at 7:30 pm – Summer Classic Films @ Majestic Theater

“Harold and Maude” (1971)   Young, rich, and obsessed with death, Harold finds himself changed forever when he meets a lively septuagenarian Maude at a funeral.  Rated PG and tickets are $9. www.gettysburgmajestic.org

Gail Jones has enjoyed a twenty-five-year career as a music educator in Pennsylvania and Maryland public schools as well as teaching music education methods at Gettysburg College for over a decade. She has also served as a guest conductor, French horn player, and private music instructor.

Gail has a deep appreciation for live music performances of all genres and encourages Adams County residents to attend the many concerts offered in our community.
