Juried art exhibition opens Friday at Adams County Arts Council

The Adams County Arts Council will celebrate the opening of its 22nd Annual Juried Art Exhibition on Friday, showcasing the work of regional artists in one of the organization’s signature annual events.

The exhibition will run from June 5 through June 27 at the Arts Education Center, 125 S. Washington St., Gettysburg, and will feature artwork selected by a panel of judges from submissions by artists throughout the region.

Opening day festivities begin with an awards ceremony at 5 p.m., followed by the popular “Toast the Artists” celebration from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The evening gives artists, patrons, and community members an opportunity to view the exhibition, recognize award winners, and celebrate the area’s creative talent.

The annual juried show is designed to highlight excellence in visual arts while providing artists with an opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional gallery setting. The exhibition typically features a variety of artistic styles and media, ranging from painting and photography to sculpture and mixed-media works.

The juried exhibition has become a longstanding tradition for the Adams County Arts Council, drawing artists and visitors from across south-central Pennsylvania and beyond. Organizers say the event helps strengthen the region’s arts community while giving the public an opportunity to experience original artwork created by both emerging and established artists.

Founded in 1995, the Adams County Arts Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the community through arts education, exhibitions, performances and cultural programming. The organization serves thousands of residents each year through classes, camps, concerts, gallery exhibits and outreach programs for children and adults.

In addition to promoting local artists, the Arts Council plays a key role in supporting arts education throughout Adams County and helping make the arts accessible to people of all ages.
