The Land Conservancy of Adams County (LCAC) has approved new board members Norma Calhoun, Erica Duffy, Kaycee Kemper, and Jess Knouse. Randy Phiel, Dave Salisbury, and Matt Sheads were reinstated to new 3-year terms.
Leaving the board are Kelly Alsedek, Katie Epstein, Carrie Russell, and Denise Wood. LCAC thanked each of them for their dedicated service.
Outgoing treasurer Katie Epstein reported the conservancy had income of $1.18 million and expenditures of $873,000 in 2020.
Land Conservation Coordinator Sarah Kipp introduce the four conservation benefactors who preserved their properties through the year.
- Doug and Christine Clabaugh, who preserved 87 acres in Mt. Pleasant Township
- Dan Brown, who preserved 160 acres in Highland Township
- Joe Lemmon, who preserved 99 acres in Reading Township
- Cam Johnson, who preserved an additional 10 acres (adding to 22 acres preserved previously) in Freedom Township.
With the 356 acres preserved this year, the Land Conservancy has preserved a total of 11,920 acres of Adams County’s beautiful rural lands! You can read more about this year’s conservation benefactors in our 2020 Annual Report.
Events Chair Jeff Glahn mentioned LCAC’s upcoming events:
- The virtual Art Auction will run from 12 p.m. on April 2 through 6 p.m. on April 21 on //BiddingOwl.com/LCAC.
- The Summer Picnic will be in person this year and will kick off at 4 p.m. on August 15 at Hickory Bridge Farm. Co-chair of this year’s picnic is local 4-H member Amanda Hollabaugh, who is working toward her 4-H Diamond Clover Award.
- The Road Rally is set for October 16—and the theme is “Ghosts of Adams County.” Stay tuned for details!
President Dave Salisbury bade a warm send-off to administrative coordinator Marti Shaw, who’s retiring after 21 years of dedicated and highly adept service to the Land Conservancy. LCAC welcomed Kathy Johnson, who has stepped up to the challenge of filling Shaw’s shoes.
