Land Conservancy Thanks Kennie’s for Support

The Gettysburg Foundation has announced that it received a generous gift of $676,069 from the estate of William E. Aldrich, board emeritus of the foundation. Aldrich’s gift will be used to support the Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station, which is owned and operated by the Gettysburg Foundation. This station was formerly the Western Maryland Railroad station located at 35 Carlisle Street in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Aldrich was a resident of Gettysburg and was a dedicated member of the Friends of Gettysburg for over 24 years. He became a member of the Gettysburg Foundation’s Guardians Society and had a passion for preserving the Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station, which he researched extensively to fully understand its historical significance. His connection to the railroad industry and his professional achievements make this gift particularly meaningful.

The Gettysburg Foundation expressed its sincere gratitude towards Aldrich’s substantial gift and stated that the foundation will use the money to maintain and preserve the station and exhibits within. The foundation further noted that the station is home to the Ticket to the Past – Unforgettable Journeys virtual reality experience.

The Gettysburg Foundation is a non-profit organization working alongside the National Park Service to preserve Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site. The foundation runs the Museum & Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park, Higher Ground Leadership at Gettysburg programming, and various other projects.

Aldrich’s legacy as a loyal supporter of the Gettysburg Foundation will inspire and have a lasting impact on the preservation of this historic landmark in downtown Gettysburg.
