Lane Restrictions Next Week on Northbound Route 15

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today there will be lane restrictions for tree trimming beginning next week on northbound Route 15 in Adams County from the Maryland state line in Freedom Township to Route 394 (Strivers Corner Road) in Straban Township.

This work is part of a 14.8-mile pavement preservation project that includes diamond grinding, milling and overlaying ramps and shoulders, guide rail replacement, pipe replacement, and other miscellaneous activities on Route 15 in Freedom, Cumberland, Mounty Joy and Straban townships, Adams County.

Weather permitting, tree trimming operations will begin Monday, March 11. Work will be performed during daylight hours Monday through Friday through the month of March. There will be lane restrictions as needed for this work.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.

A weekend closure of northbound and southbound Route 15 is planned sometime in April for a pipe replacement just south of the Steinwehr Avenue Exit. A detour will be in place.

Northbound traffic will exit at Welty Road in Maryland just south of the PA line then proceed north on Old Gettysburg Road/Emittsburg Road to Route 15 north of the closure. Southbound traffic should exit at the Steinwehr Avenue exit, then proceed south on Emittsburg Road/Old Gettysburg Road to Route 15 just south of the PA line.

An update press release will be issued prior to the weekend closure.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $ 8,318,599 project. All work is expected to be completed by February 19, 2025.
