Even as the Pennsylvania Department of Health has allowed restaurants and gyms to reopen and has reinstated sports activities in county schools, the number of COVID-19 cases in the county continues to grow in record numbers.
The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Adams County increased by 15 percent this week, increasing the cases by 614 to a total of 4,768. This is the largest weekly increase since the pandemic began, and now almost five percent of the county has or has had the disease.
Last week also brought the largest weekly increase in new deaths with 20 fatalities. The total number of deaths in the county is now 91.
At Gettysburg Hospital the number of acute cases of COVID-19 jumped 31 percent to 38.
Residents must use extreme caution as the infection rate is very high in the county.
