The Lincoln Cemetery Association will hold a Memorial Day Program on Sunday May 26 starting at 1:45 p.m. This program has been a long-time tradition for Lincoln Cemetery but has not been held recently .
The cemetery is located at the corner of Lincoln and Long Lane.
Parking is available at the rec park parking lot at 545 Long Lane as well as the PNC Bank parking lot 245 Breckenridge St. Gettysburg, PA

Time: 1:45 PM Strewing of flowers the main program starting at 2:00 PM.
At 1:45 PM a group of local children along with Lincoln Cemetery Project Association Board Members will march, forming at the Rec Park parking lot. They will then travel up the side walk crossing over to Lincoln Lane entering the cemetery by its side entrance. The children will then strew flowers on the veterans’ graves showing respect and honor to these fallen soldiers.
The main program will take place at 2:00 PM. We are honored to have as our “Guest Keynote Speaker” Anette Nance, MSW. Ms. Nance is the Executive Director Advisory Commission on African American – Affairs Office of Governor Josh Shapiro. Others on the program are as follows: Ms. Jean Howard Green, President of LCPA, Mayor Rita Frealing, Andrew Dalton Executive Director of ACHS, Chris Gwinn Park Ranger-Interpretation GNMP, Alishia Sanders 3rd Ward Councilwomen, Allied Veteran’s and Honor Guard Memorial Volley and Pastor David Roberts Amos Tabernacle Church of Christ.
The association says it is an honor to continue with this event and being able to share it again with the public.
About Annete Nance
Anette Nance, Executive Director of Governor Josh Shapiro’s Commission on African American Affairs, is a community-engaged leader, decorated veteran, and master’s-level social worker. She is from Auburn, GA and of Haitian descent.
With eight years of dedicated service in the United States Marine Corps, including an Operation Enduring Freedom deployment, she exemplifies honor and commitment. Anette holds a master’s degree in social work with a focus on community organization and social action, complemented by a certificate in Human Services Management from the University of Pittsburgh.
Her advocacy work within the veteran space has earned her recognition at local, regional, and national levels, including being a finalist for the 2020 Student Veteran of the Year award. Anette actively serves on nonprofit boards and held the esteemed role of Commissioner on Governor Wolf’s Commission on African American Affairs.
Nance’s contributions to the Pittsburgh region have been widely celebrated, with honors such as PUMP’s 40 Under 40 and the Rising Star Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. Beyond her professional pursuits, she is a woman of faith, a wife, and a devoted mother of two, inspiring others to reach their full potential with her purpose-filled mindset.
