A local author has written a children’s book about two of his favorite sports teams, the Orioles and the Colts. The 94-page book, The Adventures of Brooks and Rip, is written by Randy Gray, a Walkersville resident.
The book is available online and at several local stores.
Gray’s love for sports was inspired by his childhood when he was a big fan of the Orioles and Colts. The book draws on his memories of riding bikes with his friends, building forts in the woods, having snowball battles, and playing outside until the street lights came on.
The book’s title character is named after Brooks Robinson, a legendary Orioles player. His dog, Rip, is named after the Birds’ Ironman Cal Ripken Jr.
The book is available online at Barnes and Noble and Amazon and at the following stores: The Curious Iguana in Frederick, Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Wandering Hare in Gettysburg, Rudolph Girls in Westminster, and The Ivy in Baltimore.
