Majestic Theater Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Historic Centennial Season

The Gettysburg Majestic Theater has announced its 2025–2026 Centennial Season, a yearlong celebration permeated by a sense of history and artistic excellence. The theater will mark its 100th anniversary with a dynamic lineup of performances that showcase its legacy in film, theater, music, and dance.

Highlights include:

  • Paragon Ragtime Orchestra performing the world premiere of the newly reconstructed score for Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush (1925), presented with live accompaniment.
  • John Rubinstein, Tony Award winner, stars as Dwight D. Eisenhower in Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground, described as “a candid and fascinating fictional eavesdropping on President Dwight D. Eisenhower at his Gettysburg farm.”
  • Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will headline the Centennial Gala, joined by a “special musical guest.”
  • A dual centennial event in February features the Martha Graham Dance Company, featuring a special repeat appearance by John Rubinstein. The company will perform a new work commissioned by the company in celebration of the nationwide America 250.

Gettysburg Christmas

The season also includes a wide range of performances and events for all ages:

  • The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”, a free concert on Sep 7 at 3 PM. Founded in 1922 by Army Chief of Staff General of the Armies John J. Pershing, the band performs following a residency at Gettysburg College’s Sunderman Conservatory.
  • Pirate School: Sea Dreams (Sep. 14), “a madcap, swashbuckling solo show created and performed by veteran New York actor David Engel.”
  • A return screening of A Gettysburg Christmas on December 19 and 20, following “sell-out runs in 2023, and 2024.”
  • Mountainfilm on Tour, a curated evening of short films from Telluride’s Mountainfilm Festival.
  • Caroline Shaw & Sō Percussion featuring Ringdown will perform a theatrical evening of songs described as a “band-generated theatrical experience.”
  • Ruckus: Edinburgh Rollick, which blends early music with “the grit of American roots music.”
  • Josie & Grace, a new musical exploring the friendship between Josephine Baker and Grace Kelly, will be staged May 1–3.
