Gettysburg will host the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Master Farmers celebration this summer, bringing agricultural leaders from across the region to Adams County as the nation marks America’s 250th anniversary.
The annual banquet honoring this year’s Master Farmers will take place on July 17 at the Beyond the Battle Museum.
Organizers say the event will celebrate excellence, innovation, and stewardship in farming throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
This year’s honorees include Mark and Seth Boyer of Ridgetop Orchards in Fishertown, Pennsylvania; Richard Shuman of Shuman Farms in Bloomsburg; and Jim Harbach of Shrack Farms in Loganton.
The Mid-Atlantic Master Farmers Association described the recipients as examples of resilience, sustainable agriculture and community leadership.
The following day, July 18, attendees will take part in a farm tour featuring several prominent Adams County agricultural operations, including Hanover Shoe Farms, Rice Fruit Co. and Hollabaugh Brothers Orchard.
The Mid-Atlantic Master Farmers program traces its roots to 1927, when Pennsylvania Farmer magazine and the U.S. Department of Agriculture created the initiative to recognize outstanding achievement in agriculture. Nearly a century later, organizers say it remains one of the industry’s most prestigious honors programs.
Today, the awards are co-sponsored by American Agriculturist and Cooperative Extension programs throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia, with support from Horizon Farm Credit.
