The Master Singers of Virginia, one of the region’s most acclaimed a cappella choirs, will return to Gettysburg this holiday season with a free Christmas concert at St. James Lutheran Church. The performance, titled Songs of Light and Wonder, will take place Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the church’s York Street sanctuary.
Known for their technical precision and expressive sound, the Master Singers will offer a program that blends sacred reflection with festive cheer. The concert invites listeners into the warmth of the season, framing the holidays as a time when light breaks through darkness and joy is strengthened through community.
The ensemble will perform a range of works that showcase both contemporary choral artistry and beloved Christmas traditions. Selections include Eric Whitacre’s Lux Aurumque and Glow, along with classic carols such as Silent Night and Ding Dong! Merrily on High. The result is a program that balances quiet reverence with bright, jubilant celebration.
St. James leaders said the event is intended as a gift to the community, offering residents and visitors the chance to enjoy a nationally recognized choir at no cost. No tickets are required, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Located in the heart of downtown Gettysburg, St. James has become a regular host for choral and instrumental performances, especially during the holiday season. This year’s event is expected to draw a wide audience of music lovers, families and those seeking a moment of peace and inspiration during the busy December rush.
