McSherrystown Council Adopts 2026 Budget With No Tax Increase

McSherrystown Borough Council voted unanimously to adopt the borough’s 2026 budget with no tax increase during its Dec. 10 meeting, highlighting fiscal stability and continuity of services for the coming year.

Council members expressed appreciation to borough staff, particularly finance staff, for successfully preparing a balanced budget while maintaining existing services. The vote to adopt the budget was unanimous.

Council also received the Police Department’s monthly activity report for November 2025. Police responded to 120 calls for service, including building and business checks, school checks, traffic complaints, criminal mischief, a domestic incident, theft, and multiple community policing activities such as EMS calls and welfare checks. Officers logged more than 443 patrol hours during the month and responded to five traffic accidents, three of which were reportable. The department also reported $500 in donations for November .

Council also approved advertising the 2026 meeting schedule and reorganization meeting, and approved payment of borough expenditures covering the period from November 11 through December 8, 2025.

Before adjourning, council recognized Councilman Tim Clump, who is completing his four-year term. Members thanked him for his service, insight, and contributions during his time on council.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting is set for December 23, pending any changes .
