Mechanicsburg defeated Gettysburg in the final league softball game of the season for both teams, 6-2, Thursday afternoon.
Mechanicsburg started the scoring in the top of the second inning, with Sam Rybackl and Lauren Paul both getting on base and later scoring, giving the visiting Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Mechanicsburg’s offense continued to dominate, with Emily Bittner rapping a single and Kelsea Harshbarger hitting a triple, bringing in Bittner for their third run of the game. Bella Demaid’s single brought in Kelsea Harshbarge, increasing Mechanicsburg’s lead to 4-0.
Gettysburg finally got on the board in the bottom of the third inning, with Kate Keller roping a triple and later scoring on a bunt by Emily Haines. However, Mechanicsburg quickly responded in the top of the fourth inning, with Rybackl hitting a double and later scoring on a single from Lauren Paul, increasing the lead to 5-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, Mechanicsburg continued to add on, with Rybackl hitting a single and later scoring on a single by Demaid. Gettysburg tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Aubry Forsythe hitting a single and later scoring on a stolen base, but it was too little too late.
Mechanicsburg finished with a total of 17 hits and just one error in the field. Gettysburg had a total of seven hits and two miscues. Rybackl went the distance on the mount for Mechanicsburg, racking up 12 strikeouts while issuing only one walk.
