This Memorial Day Weekend, history, heritage, and community spirit come together for an unforgettable lineup of events hosted by the Gettysburg Heritage Center and Gettysburg Nature Alliance. From May 24–26, visitors of all ages can enjoy a weekend filled with book signings, live demonstrations, music, and immersive learning—all set against the backdrop of one of America’s most historic towns.
At the heart of the celebration is the Gettysburg Nature Alliance’s Memorial Day Book Faire, running all weekend long. This family-friendly event brings together notable authors, historical titles, and great reads for all ages. Whether you’re a Civil War buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for your next good book, the Book Faire is a perfect stop.

Local chainsaw artist Jason Stoner will also be on-site at the Gettysburg Heritage Center from May 24–26, creating small carvings live and showcasing a variety of his finished woodwork for sale. Known for transforming raw timber into stunning works of art, Jason’s demonstration is both captivating and unique—an experience not to be missed.
Also on the front lawn of the Heritage Center, the Confederation of Union Generals will bring the Civil War to life through first-person interpretation. This living history group offers an engaging look at the men and women—both military and civilian—who shaped the Union’s path to victory. Through compelling storytelling and immersive presentations, they connect audiences with the defining moments and characters of our nation’s past.
On Saturday, May 24 at 4 PM, enjoy a free live performance by Tom Jolin, who brings traditional folk and Civil War-era music to life with a blend of vocals, hammer dulcimer, banjo, harmonica, and more. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and relax on the Heritage Center’s front lawn as the music transports you back in time.
Back by popular demand, the first performance of “Night at the Museum, 1863”, will take place on Saturday evening at 5:30 pm. Step into the shoes of Gettysburg’s civilians and hear their powerful, true stories from the Battle of Gettysburg—tales of fear, bravery, survival, and resilience. The weekend concludes with a visit from the Pennsylvania WoodMobile on Monday, May 26 from 10 AM – 4 PM. This interactive exhibit offers visitors of all ages the chance to learn about Pennsylvania’s forests, forest products, and environmental challenges like invasive insects and disease. It’s a hands-on educational experience that’s fun for the whole family.
