NEW ORLEANS – The Gettysburg College men’s and women’s cross country teams were recently honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) for their performances on the course and in the classroom.
Each squad was recognized as a USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Team, which honors schools that have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA regional meet and have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.
For the third consecutive year, the men’s squad gained the status with a cumulative GPA of 3.32. A total of 172 men’s teams were recognized with All-Academic honors.
The women’s squad finished with an exceptional 3.5 GPA and were among 212 women’s teams to make the cut. The Bullets have been named an All-Academic Team every year since 2006.
In addition, junior Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) earned his second consecutive USTFCCCA All-Academic individual recognition for posting a GPA of 3.30 or higher and finishing in the top-25 (or 10 percent) of the regional championships.
McKeever, a Health Sciences major and Chemistry and Biology minor, was the Bullets No. 2 runner at the Centennial Conference Championships as he blazed the 8,000-meter course in 26:13.3 to place 20th out of 97 competitors. At the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, McKeever finished 45th, clocking a time of 26:03.3.
