The Gettysburg College men’s lacrosse team finished just two points shy of the top spot in the 2020 Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Selected as the preseason favorite in 2019, the Bullets dropped behind Franklin & Marshall College in this year’s ballot. The Diplomats totaled four first-place votes and 58 points, while Gettysburg finished with 56 points and three first-place votes.
The depth of the league was showcased in the poll as four teams earned first-place votes. Both Ursinus College and Dickinson College earned a first-place nod while finishing third and fourth, respectively.
Gettysburg leads the league with 15 conference titles with its last coming in 2016. The Bullets finished 7-1 in conference play last season and fell to Ursinus 10-8 in the tournament championship hosted at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.
Gettysburg is the top-ranked Centennial team in the national poll, coming in at No. 10. Franklin & Marshall is 12th, Ursinus is 14th, and Dickinson is 19th.
Gettysburg opens the regular season this Saturday against Messiah College at 1 p.m. The team’s first CC matchup will take place at Ursinus on Saturday, March 21, at 12 p.m.
