Men’s Lacrosse Picked 9th in Preseason Poll

The Gettysburg College men’s lacrosse team was picked ninth in the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Division III Preseason Top 20 it was recently announced.

Gettysburg improved its preseason ranking from 2020 by two spots. The Bullets were one of three Centennial Conference schools to break into the preseason ballot, joining No. 5 Ursinus College and No. 14 Franklin & Marshall College.

Salisbury University earned the top spot in the preseason poll followed by Tufts University, RIT, and Wesleyan University.

Ranked 11th in the 2020 US Lacrosse Preseason Poll, the Bullets went 6-1 before the Covid-19 pandemic cancelled the rest of the 2020 schedule. The only blemish was a loss to top-ranked Salisbury and the Bullets were riding a four-game winning streak before season’s end, which included wins over No. 16 Stevenson University (10-5) and No. 9 York (Pa.) College (7-6, OT).

Head Coach Hank Janczyk will steer the Bullets into uncharted territory heading into his 34th campaign at Gettysburg. Janczyk, who is the second-winningest coach all-time in the history of collegiate lacrosse, and his student-athletes await an announcement from the Centennial Conference Presidents’ Council on the future of the spring season.
