Meet Highlights
- Gettysburg won the first eight events. Freshman Nick Cox (Purcellville, Va./Ponte Vedra), Yancey, Edelson, and Nonemaker won the 200 medley relay by nearly five seconds with a time of 1:33.93.
- All four competitors on the winning 200 medley relay won individual races. Cox out-dueled Graham Novitch from Dickinson to win by less than a second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.49. Edelson made the most of a rare opportunity to swim the 100 IM in competition, holding off Will Freeman down the stretch to win in 53.97. Despite swimming on the outside lane, Nonemaker pulled out a win in the 100 fly, beating out Ben Shoul by 0.13 seconds with a time of 52.58.
- Yancey won both of his individual races. A quick leap into the pool gave him the early edge and he closed out the 50 free in 21.24. Yancey handily won the 100 breast, posting the only sub-minute time at 58.43.
- Junior Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Pa./Langley) nearly lapped the entire field in the 1,000 free, winning by 20 seconds at 9:47.40. The junior has won a total of 18 individual races so far this season.
- Petrillo trailed after 50 yards of the 200 free, but he quickly overtook Reid Schattgen and won by over two seconds with a time of 1:45.72.
- Junior Brian Berry (Canton, Conn./Canton) accounted for the team’s remaining individual win in the 100 free (48.42).
- The Bullets dominated the night’s final race, the 200 free relay. Edelson, Petrillo, and Nonemaker teamed up with senior Jeff Ragatz (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) to win the event by over five seconds at 1:26.15.
