Meet Highlights

  • Franklin & Marshall opened the meet with a strong showing in the 400 medley relay, beating Gettysburg by over four seconds. All four swimmers in the relay – Wahl, Graminski, and Schiavone – are multiple-time All-Americans and accounted for seven of the team’s eight individual wins on Saturday.
  • Cox used his strong starts and smooth turns to edge out Wahl for a pair of backstroke wins on Saturday. The Gettysburg junior led from start-to-finish in the 100, finishing in a time of 51.23. Cox was even more dialed in for the 200, slowly pulling away from the F&M senior and winning by over two seconds at 1:55.26.
  • Senior Oliver Pickering (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) went head-to-head with three different Diplomat All-Americans. In the 200 fly, the Gettysburg senior out-dueled F&M school record holder Willem Stoll with a time of 1:57.85. Pickering produced a pair of runner-up finishes in back-to-back races near the end of the meet. He settled for second behind Cline in the 100 fly with a time of 51.80. After a 10-minute break in the meet, the Gettysburg swimmer battled with Graminski and Cam Mehta in the 200 IM, with Graminski holding off Pickering for the victory by half a second. Pickering finished with a time of 1:57.51.
  • Senior Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley) claimed victory over Stoll in the 500 free after a runner-up finish to the Diplomat swimmer in the 1,000 earlier in the meet. In the first dual, Stoll maintained a consistent pace to steadily pull away from the Gettysburg senior for a nine-second win. Proxmire finished second in 9:53.64. In the 500, Proxmire pushed the pace on the back 25s of his 50 splits and pulled away from Stoll over the final 100 yards before finishing in 4:44.59. Sophomore Luke McKenna (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) finished third (9:59.41)) and fourth (4:56.69) in the 1,000 and 500, respectively.
  • Sophomore Hunter Sundlun (Richmond, Va./Saint Christopher’s School) took an early lead over Schiavone in the 200 free, but the F&M swimmer turned on the jets over the final 100 yards and Sundlun settled for second at 1:47.51. Sundlun was also Gettysburg’s top finisher in the 100 free with a fourth-place effort of 48.47.
