Meet Highlights

  • Gettysburg opened by grabbing the top two spots in the 400 medley relay with the first team touching the wall in 3:35.26, eight seconds faster than the rest of the field. The top quartet featured a lineup that went up in age with freshman Cort Hobelmann (Nashville, Tenn./Owensboro Catholic) swimming the backstroke, sophomore Charlie Cross (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) swimming the breaststroke, junior Nick Cox (Purcellville, Va./Ponte Vedra) swimming the butterfly, and senior Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley) swimming the freestyle. Each swimmer posted the fastest segment in their respective strokes with Proxmire closing the final 100 yards in 48.11
  • The anchor of the 400 medley relay was just the warm-up for Proxmire, who went right into the 1,000 free in the next event. The senior extended his lead to over 10 seconds by the middle of the race and easily won by 22 seconds with a time of 9:49.36. Sophomore Jack Murphy (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was second in 10:21.83.
  • Senior Oliver Pickering (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) led another 1-2 finish by the Bullets in the 200 free, edging out sophomore Luke McKenna (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) by less than a second at 1:47.72. McKenna closed the gap on his senior teammate at the halfway point, but Pickering held off the charge over the final 100 yards. McKenna touched the wall just behind at 1:48.58.
  • After two wins by the Bears, Cox flew through the water in 53.44 to claim the 100 fly by over a second. Gettysburg’s final win came in the 100 back as sophomore Benjamin Rose (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic) posted a time of 56.44.
  • Runner-up showings were turned in by Cross in the 200 IM (1:59.34), McKenna in the 500 free (4:53.86), and sophomore Declan Sheeran (McLean, Va./McLean) in the 100 breast (1:01.56).
