2022 CC All-Conference Swimming Team
LANCASTER, Pa. The Gettysburg College men’s swimming team landed four student-athletes on the All-Centennial Conference Team, including first-team selections for junior Nick Cox (Purcellville, Pa./Ponte Vedra) and senior Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley).

Cox earned All-CC First Team recognition with wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke races at the CC Championship. He defended his 2020 championship in the 100 back by hitting an NCAA B-cut in the championship race at 49.52. It was the junior’s second sub-50 race of the day as he smashed the program record by going 49.49 during prelims. For an encore, Cox stole the show in the 200 backstroke, racing to the wall in 1:48.62 to post another NCAA qualifying time and break the championship meet and school records.
Proxmire earned all-conference honors in both the 1650 and the 500 free. A two-time runner-up in the 1,650, the Gettysburg senior finally broke through for his first career gold, out-pacing the field with a personal-best time of 15:54.86 to win the event by over seven seconds. He also hit an NCAA B cut in the race. Proxmire was named All-CC Honorable Mention with a runner-up showing in the 500 free as he turned in a PR of 4:32.64 and hit another NCAA qualifying time. Proxmire also took home a bronze medal with a third-place finish in the 200 free. A five-time all-conference performer, Proxmire finished his career holding the school record in the 1,000 free (9:37.76) and ranks sixth in the 200 free, second in the 500 free, and third in the 1650 free.
Joining Cox and Proxmire with all-conferences were senior Oliver Pickering (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) and sophomore Luke McKenna (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford). Both swimmers were honorable mention picks with Pickering earning runner-up in the 200 butterfly and McKenna touching the wall first in the 1650. Pickering earned his second all-conference award by finishing as the silver medalist in the 200 fly. He posted 1:52.53 and leaves Gettysburg as the program’s record holder at 1:51.86. Pickering also set a new program standard in the 400 IM at this year’s conference meet with a time of 4:05.05 in the prelims. In addition to his 200 fly and 400 IM records, Pickering ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in the 1,000 free (7th, 10:02.49), 1,650 free (9th, 16:36.69), 200 IM (4th, 1:53.61), and 100 fly (6th, 51.08).
McKenna followed Proxmire to the finish line in the 1,650. The sophomore went out with a PR at 1,000 yards (9:40.89) and paced Proxmire down the final stretch to finish the race in 16:01.89, marking another NCAA B cut and the fourth-fastest time in program history. McKenna ranks fourth at Gettysburg in the 500 free (4:38.28), 1,000 free, and 1,650 and he is second all-time behind Pickering in the 400 IM (4:05.55).
Additionally, sophomore Charlie Cross (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) was named to the CC All-Sportsmanship Team. Cross competed in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 breaststroke. He made the championship finals in both the 400 IM and 200 breast, finishing sixth in the latter event.
