Men’s Track: Gettysburg Competes at Alvernia

READING, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men’s track and field team competed in its first meet of 2022 at the non-scoring Alvernia Winter Invite on Saturday.

Gettysburg’s Top Performers

  • Teo Zemser ’24 (Hewitt, N.J./West Milford)

    • Pole vault: 5th (13’5.25″)
  • Will Hopkins ’22 (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton)

    • Mile Run: 6th (4:32.40 – personal record)
  • Connor Elliott ’23 (Media, Pa./Salesianum)

    • 3,000-Meter Run: 6th (9:16.93 – personal record)

Meet Highlights

  • Zemser led the Bullets with a fifth-place showing in the pole vault, marking 13’5.25″ among 22 competitors.
  • Hopkins finished sixth in the mile, clocking a PR time of 4:32.40 out of over 39 competitors.
  • Elliott set a new PR in the 3,000-meter run, claiming sixth overall with a 9:16.93 time.
  • In the 5,000-meter run, Charles Norelli (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) registered seventh-place with a 17:03.69 time. Freshman Greg Himstreet (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) also competed in the event and came in 11th (18:09.89).
  • The 4×200-meter relay team came in 10th with a time of 1:46.23.
  • Freshmen Joe Siino (Mountains Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and Zyaire Myers (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) placed 16th (5’8.75″) and 17th (5’7″), respectively in the high jump.

Gettysburg will travel to Lancaster for the Franklin & Marshall Little Dip Invitational on Friday, January 28.
