Mental Health First Aid Training coming to Adams County in August

Community members in Adams County will have the opportunity to attend a free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training session this summer, designed to equip individuals with the skills to support those experiencing mental health challenges or crises.

The event will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital in Community Rooms B and C, located at 147 Gettys Street, Gettysburg. Lunch will be provided for all participants.

Hosted by the Gettysburg Hospital Foundation and Healthy Adams County, the MHFA training offers an evidence-based, 8-hour educational course designed to help attendees recognize the signs of mental health issues and learn how to respond effectively. Participants will gain practical tools for offering initial support and connecting individuals to appropriate professional care when needed.

This one-day program is ideal for a wide range of individuals, including educators, healthcare professionals, first responders, business professionals, and anyone interested in enhancing their ability to support others in distress.

Registration is required, and seating is limited to just 30 participants. Interested individuals can register by visiting https://forms.office.com/r/WYBLKdGDWQ or by scanning the QR code provided in promotional materials.

Participants are advised to use the hospital’s main entrance and take the elevator to the ground floor to access the training rooms.
