A new partnership between Mission of Mercy and Platoon 22 is delivering much-needed dental care to veterans—quickly and with powerful results.
Unlike collaborations that often take months to develop, this initiative came together with a single phone call and a fast meeting to finalize logistics. The concept is straightforward: Mission of Mercy operates a fully equipped mobile dental clinic, while Platoon 22 serves hundreds of veterans who frequently visit its center for support but often lack access to dental care.
On Friday, July 18, the program launched with Platoon 22 managing scheduling and patient registration, and Mission of Mercy providing its mobile clinic and a team of volunteer professionals, including a dentist, hygienist, two assistants, a dental coordinator, and a nurse. Fourteen veterans received dental cleanings, and three more underwent fillings or extractions.
Mission of Mercy is now seeking additional volunteer dentists to keep the program growing. The commitment is just one Friday a month, with malpractice insurance provided. The next veteran dental clinic is scheduled for Friday, August 15.
The nonprofit, which depends on community support, continues to provide free healthcare, dental care, and medications to those in need, reflecting its mission of “Restoring dignity, Healing through Love.”
