Adams County residents who are not registered to vote have until Monday to sign up for the November 3 general election. The deadline also applies to voters updating their registration, including a name, address or party affiliation.
Online applications can be submitted through vote.pa.gov until 11:59 p.m. October 19. Paper applications must arrive at the county elections office by the close of business that day; mailing an application on the deadline does not meet the requirement.
The Adams County Elections and Voter Registration Office is at 230 Greenamyer Lane, first floor, Suite 100, Gettysburg.
To qualify, applicants must have been U.S. citizens for at least one month before the election, have lived in their election district for at least 30 days before the election and be 18 or older by November 3. Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt urged eligible Pennsylvanians to register and current voters to check that their information is accurate.
Voters planning to cast a mail ballot face two additional deadlines. The county elections office must receive their ballot application by 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, and their completed ballot by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots arriving after that cutoff will not be counted.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. November 3. Anyone in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
Residents can check their registration, apply for a mail ballot and find their polling place at vote.pa.gov.
