The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center, owned and operated by the Gettysburg Foundation, remains open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the shutdown. Though some National Park Service (NPS) operations are paused, the Foundation continues to provide access to signature experiences and amenities.
Licensed Battlefield Guide tours continue by bus and car, with reservations required for car tours. Guests can also enjoy shopping at the Museum Book Store, dining at the Battlegrounds Café & Grille, and exploring Civil War ancestry with help from volunteers in the McKenna Foundation Resource Room. Tickets and maps are available at the Ticket Counter and Friends Desk.
Meanwhile, some NPS facilities remain accessible, though with limited services. Roads throughout Gettysburg National Military Park are open to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, and the Gettysburg National Cemetery is open as usual. Grounds at the Eisenhower National Historic Site are accessible from sunrise to sunset, though home tours there are suspended.
Educational programs, ranger-led interpretive services, and information desks staffed by the NPS are paused during the shutdown. However, law enforcement patrols by NPS protection rangers continue to ensure the safety of visitors and resources. Lost and found services are available at the Security Desk inside the Museum & Visitor Center.
